GravelTech in the News

in

Back at the end of February a local TV station, KTAU Channel 2, had a story on fixed gear bikes in Portland. GravelTech got mentioned, though indirectly:

The city has seen the organization of weekly fixed-gear rides, an annual one-speed festival, a fixed-gear category at local races and even a few Web 'zines devoted to fixed gears.

Seriously, an annual one-speed festival? A few web 'zines devoted to fixed gears? Why didn't they just call for a quote? We'd have been happy to oblige...

What all our friends are getting for Christmas

Just in time for holiday shopping, Ahearn Cycles is now selling the official Billy Spaceman Flask Holster. A mere $30 will get you the only flask cage named after and approved by GravelTech's Billy Spaceman. It's made of stainless steel construction and alleged to be compatible with Surly's Flasks.

p.s. Make sure you check out the instruction sheet, it's almost worth the full price.

NOISE 2003

A brisk gray Portland Saturday morning served as a setting for the N.O.I.S.E. (Northwest One-speed International Solidarity Event). While the international single-speed jet set rode in the glowing Australian spring, twenty-odd dedicated derelicts assembled in North Portland to ride to the secret rally spot for some off road fun. After riding five miles to Pier Park, they swilled cheap beer, smoked too many cigarettes and talked smack until the junior high school cross-country runners cleared the trail. When the Black Cats exploded the riders were off in a Le-Mans running start, and four laps to glory.
